“Sail now, work later”

Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than those you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from safe harbor. Catch the wind in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

~ Mark Twain

So, a recap of where we started and what has happened…… The old blog lays in wasteland, it needs about 100 hours to put it back together again. The best way to get our new viewers up to speed is a Cliff Notes version of our story.

Here it goes…. There was once a redhead👩‍🦰 trapped in an office. Her husband was also trapped in another office. They worked to pay the bills 🧾, and dream of the yearly vacation to a land far, far away.

The husband, better known as Captain Adam🏴‍☠️ as of late, had a brash idea. 💡He had a scheme and saved his pennies to buy a sailboat ⛵ large enough to take his redhead wife 👩‍🦰and his 4 legged beast 🐕 (Brunodog) to the lands far, far away, without having to pay for the hotel 🏢, rental car 🚗, and airplane ✈️ tickets everytime they traveled.

The wife agreed and said “retire from your job.” And, let’s find a sailboat. ⛵ “It has to be big enough for my designer clothes collection and I’m not showering in a bag outside!”

They chose to see the world 🌎 and have an adventure! They began searching for the right sailboat ⛵. They contacted Doug Jenkins from Edward’s Yacht Sales. There was a 53 foot Bruce Roberts Ketch for sale nearby. It was a steel hull boat and Ginger liked it. “I can bounce it off of stuff and not have to worry about it too much, that’s the boat 🚢 for me!”

This boat 🚢 was sick, infested with rust and would need more work than they were willing to do. Ultimately, it was sold to a metal fabricator. Their hopes were dashed and they began to search again. Checking the online ads, and newspapers.

Doug called after he got the results from the surveyor saying not to buy it. He had recalled that there was a Manta Catamaran for sale at a reasonable price and would need some work.💰💰💰

They drove 2.5 hours to look at the boat and then decided to take it out on the water the next weekend. Adam was still working and needed to sneak away from his job. The company would certainly make him jump through hoops 🔥to get a day off. He kept all of the planning between himself, Ginger, and Doug.

The world had no idea that they were going to escape from the Matrix and choose a simpler way of living! They were going to downsize the way they lived. Sell the house 🏠, the classic car collection 🏎️ , and change their lifestyle forever!

A deal was struck and then the boat was moved to a closer port. “Titusville will do” they said. They began to refit the boat and replace the parts, do upgrades, and make it their own. Then the hurricanes 🌀🌀🌀 came.

They had to protect their new home. They ratchet-strapped, taped, and secured everything into place. The storms passed and it came time to change the name of the boat. “Karma” belonged to somebody else and did not sit well with Bruno’s dog pack. They brainstormed 🌩️for new names and Spongebob Squarepants gave them the answer.

The catamaran was renamed “Bikini Bottom”. It was a good place for Spongebob to live and Captain Adam and Ginger agreed. So, peeling off old decals is a lot harder than people realize. Four letter words were used, drills and sunglasses were lost to Poseidon, and never to be found.

Captain Adam 🏴‍☠️ retired from his job. They all sailed the boat south. There were a few issues along the way. A lost prop by an absent-minded mechanic. A few repairs and then tragedy struck. The anchor ⚓ had drifted in the middle of the night and left them in a sandbar.

Captain Adam 🏴‍☠️ was able to get the boat ⛵ free but, “the damage was already done”. Upon arrival to do the rigging replacement, the oil pressure on the starboard engine had dropped to an unsafe level and began to knock. He promptly called the diesel mechanic. 👨‍🔧

Covid-19 was spreading and now a fight with the insurance company would begin. The diesel mechanic and Captain Adam 🏴‍☠️ pleaded their case, showed their records and posted videos of the evidence collected.

The insurance company wrote a check and the replacement engines are now delayed from overseas. This is where our journey currently is. The sailors of Bikini Bottom ⛵are going to escape to the Caribbean shortly. It will mean a few days in the boatyard to swap the engines and do repairs first though.

Stay tuned because this is only the beginning of the adventure! ⛵

See you soon! ⛵🏴‍☠️🌎👩‍🦰
